1797- Our island is named on Stewart's map.

1869- Devenport (Deb) Wright builds Long Beach's first home.

1880- The construction of the largest seaside resort in the world, The Long Beach                Hotel.

1906- The entrance on our shores of visionary master-builder Senator William H.                Reynolds.

1907- Senator Reynolds builds the first concrete boardwalk in Long Beach; the                    Atlantic Gulf & Pacific Company starts to dredge the Channel bearing his                    name.

1908- Construction of "The Estates of Long Beach."

1912- The resort community of Long Beach becomes the incorporated village.

1914- Long Beach dedicates its first school.

1915- Lido Golf Course is designed.

1919- We have Walk and a West End bungalow communities.

1922- Long Beach becomes a self-governing city; new million dollar bridge built                  over Reynolds Channel; Long Beach-on-the-Ocean Trolley begins service.

1927- Long Beach Hospital is dedicated.

1929- Stock market crashes and the modern urban Long Beach begins.
